
Whether you Walk, Run, Spin or Ride, your safety is our primary concern. Following these simple tips can ensure your safety and enjoyment at Tour de Broward.

- Train ahead of time for your event. If you are not used to regular exercise, start small and increase your exercise time in comfortable increments.
- Check the local weather report and plan to wear clothing appropriate for your event. (We will be there - rain or shine!)
- Kids are welcome to participate, however, we ask those under 16 be accompanied by an adult.
- Drink plenty of water prior to the event. Make sure you stay hydrated.
- Give your body fuel and energy by choosing some high protein energy snacks prior to your event. Peanut butter and bananas make a great choice to get you going!!
- Arrive early and give yourself time to warm-up and stretch.
- Be sure you have filled out the on-line emergency contact form.
- Bring sunglasses with you to reduce straining your eyes in the sun.
- Apply sunscreen before, during and after the event. Look for a product that is waterproof and sweat proof.
- Make sure you have footwear appropriate to your event.

- If it's a hot day, plan to wear light colored clothing to reflect the heat.
- Wear a hat, ballcap, sunglasses and/ or visor to protect your face from the sun.
- It's OK to mix running and walking to avoid becoming overheated
- Be sure to bring your helmet. It is mandatory for this ride.
- Please no headphones or cell phones while riding.
- Make sure your bicycle is tuned-up and road ready before the event.
